Using an Indoor Dome Fake Security Camera to Scare Away Burglars

May 16th, 2010

During the holiday season, sadly more and more home invasions are taking place.  People are away for the holidays and the festive season has become a very profitable one for burglars.  So what can homeowners do in order to protect their belongings, homes and lives?  For those who do not have home security due to the fact that security cameras are very expensive to install, an indoor dome fake security camera may be worth consideration.

This type of fake security camera sells for fewer than one hundred dollars at retail outlets and can be found online for less than $20.  Buying this sort of camera will mean that the home in question will appear to be protected by some sort of security system.  However, buyers should be aware of the obvious fact that the security camera will not actually record the crime if a break in does occur.

There are many different styles of fake cameras to buy.  One option is to buy a dome camera.  This is a fake mold that is a popular choice among those looking to fool thieves.  These models look like a real camera and to those who are not trained at picking out fakes it will appear to work like one as well.

The reason that a dome camera looks so real is that they often have a flashing light on the bottom of the camera.  This lets people know that it is live, working and recording.  Some versions even have a fake motion sensor.  This appears to scan the area it is recording and again it acts as a great deterrent to would-be thieves.

There are also many models that are more sophisticated available and these are very unobtrusive.  This is one of the reasons that this product is so appealing to buyers.  They also have special features that the cheaper models do not have.  For example, it has the usual light that is flashing to derail burglars and it is very hard for anyone to tell it is a fake camera as it comes in the casing of a real camera.

Now one may think they need to install several little fake cameras in order to appear as though they are covering many areas of house but this is not the case.  The fancier versions make it difficult for people to see which direction it is aiming at.  This means that it appears to cover a much larger area and one camera will suffice.

For those that are nervous about self-installation there is no need to be.  These cameras are very easy to put in and anyone who has done a bit of handy work around the house at some time should have no problem.  Quite simply it is a matter of placing the camera wherever it is meant to go.

When one is buying a fake camera, they should realize that although it will deter burglars it will not deter those that are adept to picking a fake from a real one.  In addition, if it is not in a location that is visible it will not help much.  Other aspects to consider are getting a few extra security features.  Some people like to use security stickers and while they do not have a system in place, the sticker usually scares off burglars.

Buying a fake camera is a cheap way to protect the home. However, it is not the only precaution that should be taken.  Homeowners should also add other inexpensive security measures in order to make their home less appealing to thieves.  The camera itself is a wise buy that is easy on the pocket of whoever lives in the home.
